Merry Christmas! (Almost)

Yay! It's almost here!!! I love Christmas! And bonus! I get Christmas Eve AND Christmas off this year. Normally we have to work one or the other, but my boss called me today and said my name got drawn and did I want to work Friday instead. Ummm yea, I think so. And I can't WAIT to open presents!!!!

Although, I did get one present early, allow me to share my new obsession...

And since I never fulfilled my promise from the last blog, let's recap the Baltimore weekend:

Over the nice weekend in Baltimore, I got a lot accomplished! Scrapping (well, really just talking) on Friday night with Tracy, Jen, and Mandy.

Saturday, Jen, Bill, Brandon, and I went to DC. We took the metro in and I have to admit... I was a little timid of doing the whole public transportation thing, but it went well. Then we went to the Smithsonian and left about... oh 5ish? Yea, it was snowing when we walked out. Little North Carolina girl here was definitely not prepared for that. I was freezing. I ended up buying a toboggan and gloves from a street vendor. And I was still freezing. But it was so gorgeous!

Sunday was full of football and scrapping. What more could a girl need???

Here's some pics:

So there ya go! I will eventually post the LO's I did from Baltimore... eventually.

After tomorrow...

I can:

-write an actual post (with pictures from this weekend and lots of scrappy goodness!)

-say that I'm DONE with statistics

-put up my Christmas decorations... I feel like the grinch for not having done that yet

Wednesday, November 19, 2008

Ack!

List of things the "ack" about:

Number 1: 10 page paper due next week.
Number 2: Discussion boards to finish up.
Number 3: Two statistics tests to go before the semester is done.
Number 4: I gotta get started on my admission stuff for grad school next fall.
Number 5: GRE on Saturday... no pressure or anything, it's just the test that will decide if I can get into grad school...

Ok, yea, so, I'm sufficiently stressed!

What's scrapbooking? I don't even remember...

But I will in 2 weeks when I go to my friend!!! Yay, Jen! And, even better, I'm going to bring your stuff! Because I've completely given up on making it to the post office. It's just not going to happen. Let's put that dream to rest! :)

Thanks for loving me anyway, girl! See you SOON!!!

I don't know anymore

I am watching You've Got Mail and there is a line in it where Joe is writing an email to Kathleen and he says, "Do you ever feel that you've become the worst version of yourself?" Sometimes I feel like I have.

On an completely different note (because I'm not discussing the above anymore right now), I am amazed by new products out for kids. With Christmas coming up quickly, we are bombarded by commericals and advertisements, even with our economy in the shape that it's in. One example of a quite amazing new product that I have recently seen is the Crayola Magic Light Brush. Really?? How is this possible. I must see this in real life to understand how it works. Because I am slightly confused and amazed by the commercial on TV. So obviously the advertisement works, right? But who am I going to by it for? I don't have kids, and probably buying that for myself would be a little odd. Plus, if I am going to spend money on something (which I'm not doing), it would be on other things. Perhaps a new pair of boots or a new iPod nano. My iPod is broken. That was a sad day when I realized that. Music is such a huge part of my life. Any given day, my mood is reflected by my music choice. And sometimes, I just want to sing. So I do.

Friday morning was one of the worst mornings of my life. I left my house at about 6:15 or 6:20, like I always do. I probably went about 5 or 10 over the speed limit on the highway, like I always do. I pulled into the parking lot, like I always do. And then I did something that I never do. That I have never done. I did this:

For some reason, my mind was completely somewhere else, and I "failed to stop" in time to avoid an accident, as my ticket says... and I hit another car. That is not a good way to start the day. I didn't make it into work to actually take care of my patients until about 8:30. So Friday was not a good day. But Friday night was better. I went to my friend's house and hung out and had a great time.

Yesterday was OK, too, I guess. Last night we went to a friend's house and watched the UFC fight.... yea... definitely never watched that before and oh my goodness. Those boys are not playing. It was one of the most brutal things I've ever seen. The boxing and kicking I don't mind so much. But when one guy is down on the mat and the other guy is just hitting the crap out of him... I don't know about that.

Anyway, one last thing to say. As passive agressive as I can be at times, I hate when other people are passive agressive, especially when it relates to me. And, for some reason, I feel like a lot of that has gone on lately. And I don't like it.

On that note, I'm going to bed.

New, pretty stuff!

Ok, that's all for now!

I need to go to bed.

So it's like, 1:30, and I should be asleep. But I can't sleep. So I thought I would blog.

I wanted to scrap tonight and had no mojo. But I did have mojo to organize, so that's what I did instead. Now all my pics are nice and organized again and my area is straightened up for the most part. In the process of organizing and looking through my pics... I started about 2 mini albums and 2 LO's in my head. And I wonder why I can't get anything done.

Also, blogger won't let me put my whole answer to the "random question" thing that goes on your profile. Apparently, it has to be 400 characters or less, and I guess I rambled on a little too long. But I figured since I spent all that time and effort (not really) answering it, I should put it on here.

The question was: "What did you dream when you ate a spider while sleeping?"

And my answer is this: "Ok, so this is the scariest question ever. Spiders have got to be the worst thing in the world. And the statistic that we eat, like, 6 of them in our sleep in a year or our life or something (I forgot the actual numbers... I tried to block it out of my memory, but that never works for anything... especially the things you really wanna forget about, like stupid things that you've done in your life. Yea, why can't I forget that stuff? Ok, my ADD has gotten me off track...) So yea, I hate spiders, and I would like to think that that doesn't happen to me. My bubble will protect me from the spiders. But, in regards to the 'dream' part of the question, I do have really weird, very vivid, sometimes very exciting dreams most of the time. :)"

Maybe I can get some scrapping done tomorrow before the Panthers game since it's not til 4. We are playing the Raiders, so hopefully we should win. Hopefully. Alright, I'm off to bed! Have a good rest of the weekend everyone!

Updates!!!

So, lots of new stuff since I actually blogged last time. I really don't count the last couple as actual blogs...

So the last couple weeks have been pretty great. Working a lot. Getting to scrap. School shiz... ah well, I'm not talking about school stuff cuz this is gonna be a HAPPY blog! :)

Last Thursday was potentially the greatest night of my life. I got to see NEW KIDS ON THE BLOCK in concert. Go ahead and make fun. I don't care. It was the best concert ever and I'm not ashamed that I went. It was pretty amazing. I have no pics because I didn't want to take my big ol' Nikon D40 to the concert because I would have been too worried about that to enjoy the show. But I'm stealing the memory card from my SIL soon so I can upload the pics from it.

In other news... I've got some new LO's to show off!!! I think this makes 10 or 12 towards my diet? I should be keeping up better.

On a completely different note... I'm so ready for this election to be over! I'm so sick of hearing about it! Tomorrow's the big day! Go vote!

Hope everyone has a great week!

:)

I hate Statistics....

And not because I am not good at it or I'm doing badly in it... just because I would rather be doing soooo many other things right now. For example, browsing Facebook looking at everyone's pages... scrapping... or really any other school work.

Fact of the matter is that I went out tonight after work with some people and had a great time. Had a couple glasses of wine... and really, Stats is the furthest thing from my mind right now... yet I have a quiz due tonight. And I have no motivation other than "I have to have this class to graduate." And if I don't graduate, I don't start grad school next fall. And if I don't start grad school next fall, then my whole life is over, because then I won't be done when I want to be done. Which, FYI, is in 2 years and 7 months. That's right, I'm counting it down, month by month, minute by minute... I feel like I will never be done, and it certainly will never be December!

New Addiction

So, it seems I have fallen off the blogging wagon once again. It's because of my new addiction. A little thing called facebook. Anyone familiar with it? Yea, so if you want to know what's going on in the life of Deah (which is very exciting and interesting by the way...), then get a facebook and be my friend! Otherwise, I'm afraid your S.O.L.

Hope everyone has a great weekend. I'm sure I'll be back for a little better update sometime. I'm not completely abandoning the blog thing, I just don't have time, what with school and work, and most importantly, facebook, lol.

New Stuff

So, working 5 out of 6 days 12 hour shifts really makes me tired. But, I did manage to get a couple things done in the last week or so. Here's 2-4 of 50 for the stash diet:

(This is a wall hanging, I just don't have the ribbon on it yet.)

Ok, I just wanted to get those posted. Sorry for the shortness and inevitable boring-ness of this post.

So proud!

Of myself, of my boys, and of my babies.

Let me elaborate...

# 1: Of myself:

So, Niki (one of my good friends at work) and I threw a baby shower for one of our co-workers, Jessica, yesterday. Just me and Niki. And we planned the whole thing and put it together and pulled it off! Yay! Go us!

One baby shower last weekend for a family friend, one this weekend for Jessica, and one this coming week for one of the respiratory therapists at work. I have spent more money at Babies R Us in the last couple weeks than I planned on. In fact, I would really like to make something for Amy (the therapist) for her shower this week, but I don't know if I will have time. We'll see how that goes...

I'm also proud of myself for starting the stash diet. So, for those of you that aren't familiar... A bunch of us girls from We Scrap Better are trying to not spend money. And do 50 LO's before we buy anything new. Because for real, we all have way more stuff than we will ever use, so why not use it up? So here's LO #1 of the FIFTY!

# 2: Of my boys:

I cannot believe that I have not blogged about this one sooner, but since I haven't, I now have TWO games to brag about. My boys (the Panthers, duh) are 2-0 now. That's right. We have won both regular season games so far. And yea, I realize that we are only week 2, but still. It's not like we are playing the Dolphins team from last year. We have won against the Chargers and the Bears. All without my main boy, Steve Smith. That's something. I don't care what the haters think. LOL

I could really talk about my boys for a while, like Delhomme's game winning touchdown pass with 2 seconds left last week or how we are so a second half team and I shouldn't doubt them when we are down because they came back today... but I don't wanna bore everyone. So if ya wanna talk football, lemme know. I can talk a while... :)

and # 3: Of my babies:

We went to the new dog park yesterday evening with our 3 babies and mom and dad's one baby. And let me brag like a proud mommy and say that they did so good! Titan and Tierra especially. I wasn't really surprised by the puppies because they adapt to anything new. They don't know any different. But Titan and Tierra haven't really been around other dogs much. And they did just fine! We will definitely have to make this a more frequent trip!

Sharing the love (Titan is between Brandon and my dad and Tierra is in front of dad)

Getting acquainted with a new friend....

Jake (the smallest one of the four, playing kinda rough with a bigger dog... he doesn't realize how small he is)

Time to get ready for some Sunday Night Football and then for another fun week at work. Last week I worked nights, and I'm pretty sure I will not do that again. It was horrible. I say now that I won't do that again, but when they are short, and they ask me... I probably will... I can't say no. Anyway, I'm back on days this week and I'm sure this week will be better.

Hope everyone has a GREAT week! :)

Lazy Saturday Night

Sitting at home watching this:

Kevin James "Sweat the Small Stuff."

Good times.

This video, by the way is part one of I think 5 parts and I highly recommend watching all five here:

http://video.aol.com/video-detail/kevin-james-sweat-the-small-stuff-1/3136326692/?icid=VIDURVCOM03

This is part one, but the links to the other parts are on the left side.

Anyway, this week has been fairly busy. Tuesday was mom's birthday and we went out to eat. I also tried out my new running shoes that day and yay for not getting shin splints! I wanna be a runner when I grow up but I was having a hard time running because of those. But my new shoes make me feel like a real athlete. Which, whoever knows me at all knows that that is so not me. But that's the great thing about running. It's just me and the road. I'm not competing with anyone and it's a great way to clear my head and get my thoughts together. I tend to be a little Type A and running helps me deal with stress. So yay for new shoes on so many levels.

http://www.brooksrunning.com/prod.php?p=42224&k=123212

These are definitely not as cute as my previous shoes, but I have learned to not buy running shoes based on cuteness. That doesn't work.

So here are some pics from the last couple of weeks:

At the cookout:

Here's the edited one cuz I was bored (which I did on Photobucket, how exciting is that?!?!)

And from Tuesday night when we went out to eat:

Yummy Rum Runner, never had one before, but I will definitely order again!

Oh, and I don't know if you can tell from this pic or not, but this is why I have to go to the allergist next week...

Yep, I'm allergic to Jasmine and I don't know what to do about it. And that is what happens to me when I hold her. :( I have had bad seasonal allergies for as long as I can remember and then became allergic to cats when I was about 12 (after having had cats most of my childhood before that). My Allegra works for seasonal stuff, but definitely not for Jazzy. So now I have an appt w/an allergist next week at 9:00. After I work all night and then I have to work that night, too.

I am such a good employee that I volunteered to work nights next week cuz they are so short. Oh, and I'm throwing a baby shower for a co-worker next week and I am going to try to get something made for her like a mini-album or something. But we will see how that goes. Yea, I'm a good person, lol.

Ok, that's all I've got for tonight. Except you know how the last post I said that I was going to kick Statistic's butt? Yea... I definitely hate it now. One last pic to leave you with of some pretty flowers:

OMG, I ALMOST FORGOT!!!!!!! I am a HUGE dork and I'm sure I will get catch some slack for this, but I don't care. My wonderful sister-in-law Amber and I will be going to Charlotte on October 30th for the New Kids on the Block concert. Yep, that's right. I know you're jealous.

All better!

Yay! I'm feeling much better and had to go to work today. I have been out for a week (just because of how my schedule worked out). The doctor wrote me out of work Monday and Tuesday and I wasn't scheduled back until today.

I also didn't realize that I am working the whole Labor Day weekend. Saturday, Sunday, Monday. So that kinda sucks, but I did get a week off. Although, I think I would have rather been at work and seeing all my friends at work than to be home sick. None of my buddies were at work today and I haven't seen them in a week. :(

School has officially started back and let me just say that I'm going to kick Statistics butt. I had my first assignment due yesterday and I got a 97. That made me excited. It's the little things like that I get excited about. Like having just enough French Vanilla creamer to go in my coffee in the morning. I can't function without my morning coffee.

I had my degree evaluation at school Thursday and I'm about 2 1/2 classes short of what I need to graduate. Which is ok. It just means next semester is gonna suck because I am going to have to take a couple extra classes I wasn't planning on. But I will get it done. I already feel like I'm never going to get done with school, so I can't delay this process any longer. I still have 3 years left as it is now.

Anyway, onto more fun things now. School is definitely going to stiffle my scrapping fire for a while, so that makes me sad, but let me share my mini book that I did when Jen was here that I still haven't posted.

Oh, yea, one last note...

This is the greatest book ever. It's an amazing love story. And it will definitely make you cry.

And this:

better be the best movie ever.

It comes out September 26th. And I can't wait.

the randomness that is deah... thoughts, ponderings, and musings... with some scrapping thrown in
